Traffic charges from a speeding offense or other citation may initially appear to be nothing more than a minor inconvenience. In truth, financial costs of a ticket can be onerous, your insurance premiums could increase and multiple infractions could put your driver’s license in jeopardy.

At Mays Law Office, LLC, we believe that every driver in Wisconsin deserves the opportunity for a defense against a traffic ticket. Our attorneys bring more than 60 years of combined experience to help those in Madison and surrounding communities. We review the facts of your case and provide you with a strong defense against a broad range of charges, including:

  • Speeding tickets
  • Driving with no insurance
  • Reckless driving
  • Texting and driving and other distracted driving infractions
  • Driving with a suspended license

Understanding Wisconsin’s Demerit Point System

Every traffic citation in Wisconsin carries a certain number of demerit points. The most serious offenses, including reckless driving or attempting to elude an officer, carry six points. More minor offenses may carry two to four points depending on the infraction. For drivers who are using a probationary license, the second and subsequent offenses will carry double demerit points.
